Demonstrations in support of political prisoners in Iran in 49 cities around the world
20 June 2011

Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (CFPPI) has announced 20 June 2011 as the international day of action in support political prisoners in Iran.

More than 48 cities in different countries, from Canada and US to Europe, have joined this global day and organised a demonstration in their cities.

The Islamic government in Iran will not tolerate any dissent, any voice of opposition and any exercises of freedom of expression. Men and women, boys and girls, students and workers have been detained, tortured, raped and executed for merely asking for freedom. The brutal crackdown of any opposition activities in Iran is a well known fact, and secret executions in prison have been on the rise lately. In some prisons, the guards have been forcing the inmates to watch the executions. The regime in Tehran is trying to prolong its existence through spreading fear among people. The Islamic regime will not stop until the last breath of dissent is defeated. At the same time, people in Iran will not stop until they have gained freedom to Iran.

More than ever political prisoners in Iran need support. Their voice has been silence by the regime, so they need to have a voice. 20 June campaign is the voice of all dissent in Iran. 20 June campaign is the voice of political prisoners in Iran.  Their voices will be echoed throughout the world on the 20th of June 2011.
We demand:
·        The immediate and unconditional freedom of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in Iran
·        Halt on all executions and execution sentences in Iran

49 cities have joined the 20th June 2011 global day of action in support of political prisoners in Iran
